
On September 28th, 2019 the Minister of Industry and Mines, Djamila TAMAZIRT, made an inspection visit to El Hadjar Complex following the emergency measures decided at the Inter-ministerial Council to deal with the problems related to the supply of raw iron.
Accompanied by a large delegation made up of executives from the Ministry of Industry and Mines, the mayors of Sidi Amar and El Hadjar, the trade union leader of workers, the local press, the CEOs of the IMETAL Group, SIDER Group and El Hadjar Complex, namely Mr. Tarik BOUSLAMA, Mr. Lakhdar AOUCHICHE and Mr. Chemeseddine MAATALLAH.

This visit was marked by the presentation of the situation on the general state of the liabilities and assets of the steel complex El Hadjar as well as the difficulties encountered for the supply of the latter in iron ore by the mines of Boukhadra and Ouenza- belonging to the Mines de Fer de l’Est Company- causing the total shutdown of blast furnace No. 2.
After a guided tour in some areas of El Hadjar complex, the Minister addressed the officials present by recalling the results of the inter-ministerial meeting held on September 17th, 2019, indicating the establishment of a high committee, chaired by the speaker and comprising five ministries concerned. It was also decided the obligation of 3 x 8 work shift at the level of mines to avoid any breakage of raw material.

The Minister, for her part, highlighted the importance of the place occupied by El Hadjar Complex both for regional and national economy and the preservation of this economic tool.
For that, the minister assured that this will not happen anymore thanks to the mobilization of all the partners to overcome this crisis.
Finally, the blast furnace of Sider El Hadjar Complex (Annaba) was restarted after the transport of iron ore to the Complex which will reach 120,000 tons for the first phase.
